Digital Collage
Debris, 2017

Birth. Transference. Waste. Something in the corner of the shed that I have been meaning to look at. Questions of origin and of order. Priorities. Destruction of myths. Celebrations without champagne or fanfare. The mix of greenery instead of thoughts. The parts of nature where bodies twine.

Chernobyl Spring 1986

Frozen in time by the evacuation of its residents, but open to the effects of elements and nature, the region surrounding Pripyat and the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant exists as its own imperfect archive. One part personal narrative and two parts collective fever dream, Chernobyl Spring 1986, explores the events surrounding the disaster through recurring themes of young love, wilderness, transformation, and rebirth. The anxiety of an unseen and eternal enemy permeates the work with a suffocating and intimate tension.  Described as “haunting” and “visually captivating” the digital collages are assembled from both digital and hand cut images. Even When I Wait for the Bus, Everyone Knows I'm Wonder Woman

“If Wonder Woman waited for the bus, would she tweet about it?” My self portraits as the character Wonder Woman examine celebrity, isolation and outsided-ness. Does the manufacturing of a false sense of intimacy through social media make the public even hungrier for the personal details of their favourite celebrities? Selected Press
